Overview of the talk

(i) Types of properties :- with title, under master title, freehold/leasehold and restrictions-in-interests

(ii) Importance of :- land search, bankruptcy/company/winding up searches and private caveat

(iii) Important matters to consider :-

(a) Redemption sum payable to Vendor’s Financier;

(b) List of furniture, fixtures and fittings;

(c) Existing purchase subject to tenancy agreement;

(d) Utility charges and change of ownership for assessment;

(e) Category of land use;

(a) Cash purchase from developer for property held under master title;

(b) Properties not covered by Housing Development [Control And Licensing (Amendment) Act, 2007]

(c) Gated and guarded properties with common facilities.

About the Speaker

Mr Wong Yin Voon graduated from University Malaya with LL.B (Hons) and was called to the Bar in 1986. He has obtained valuable working experience in the firms of M/S Wang Kuo Shing & Co. and M/S T.C. Chong & Rakan-Rakan and also as a partner in M/S Neoh, Norizah & Co. for four (4) years. He set up his own practice in July, 1999 under the name and style of M/S Yin Voon & Co. He is proficient in both conveyancing and civil litigation matters. Mr Wong has also been exposed to banking and corporate matters for the past fifteen (15) years. He acts as a legal advisor to various societies and companies in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Darul Ehsan.
