Brief History of the Business Networking Club.
In February
1989, four business friends had lunch and the idea of forming a club
to promote
networking was mooted. From this gathering of:
1) Dato Albert Ong
2) Mr Chow Hin Wai
3) Mr Allen Mak
4) Mr A K Woo
the circle of the luncheon participants grew to 60 by the end of the year.
It was then decided
that the club
should have a fixed venue for its monthly meeting and The Bankers Club was
selected.
Prominent speakers on a wide range of subjects were invited to address the
members and this
evolved to become a standard feature for the monthly meetings. Other
activities like
tours, golf tournaments, annual dinner and dance were introduced and these
have also turned
into
traditional activities of the club.
On May 20, 1991, the club was officially registered by the Registrar of
Societies as The
Businessmen
Social Club Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.
However, on April 5, 1994 the name of the club was changed to The Business
Networking Club
Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya to reflect the increasing number of lady members.
Today, the club is more commonly known as The Business Networking Club or
affectionately
called BNC by its members. The membership is increasing as the club is
keeping a higher profile
as it
progresses from its foundation years.
